چکیده
Rivers play an essential role to humans and ecosystems, but they also burst their banks during floods, often causing extensive damage crop, property, loss of lives. This paper characterizes the 2014 flood Indus River in Pakistan using US Army Corps Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Centre Analysis System (HEC-RAS) model, integrated into a geographic information system (GIS) satellite images from Landsat-8. The model is used estimate spatial extent assess that it caused by examining changes different land-use/land-cover (LULC) types river basin. Extreme flows for return periods were estimated frequency analysis log-Pearson III distribution, which Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS) test identified as best distribution characterize flow regime at Taunsa Barrage. output was then incorporated HEC-RAS determine flood, with accuracy this modelling approach assessed Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). results show supervised classification Landsat able identify LULC study region high degree accuracy, most affected crop/agricultural land, 50% flood. Finally, hydraulic simulation found visually compare very well MODIS image, surface area floods calculated. provides further evidence benefit hydrological mapping assessment inform development risk mitigation strategies.

Study of the morphological changes and meander pattern of the Zohre River using satellite images
Erosion and sedimentation that will lead to morphological changes in rivers are found in alluvial rivers. Morphological changes in rivers can cause numerous problems, so studying the shape of alluvial rivers in morphology is very important in morphology science. In this study, morphology changes of the Zohreh River in the Hendijan plain, for a length of about 23 km between latitudes 30´ 49° and...
متن کاملAnalysis of Flood Hydraulic in Alluvial Fan River using CCHE2D Case Study: (Roodan River)
In this study the advantages and importance of a numerical model to predict and monitor the processes governing hydraulic changes alluvial fan river is discussed. For this reason and because of the importance of flow velocity and shear stresses resulting from the erosion of the river, A two-dimensional numerical model to simulate the CCHE2D river changes ranging from Roodan River is used. In th...

Measures should be taken to make better use of the rivers in the study, construction and exploitation optimized to contain, mitigate risks and minimize the negative consequences and the improvement of the situation in order to meet human needs and protect the environment there. Route investigated in Khorasan Razavi province and city and river Ghochan is Atrak. Physiographic parameters using dig...
متن کاملToward global mapping of river discharge using satellite images and at-many-stations hydraulic geometry.
Rivers provide critical water supply for many human societies and ecosystems, yet global knowledge of their flow rates is poor. We show that useful estimates of absolute river discharge (in cubic meters per second) may be derived solely from satellite images, with no ground-based or a priori information whatsoever. The approach works owing to discovery of a characteristic scaling law uniquely f...

Water is one of most important human needs for life. According to importance of subject, discussion of management and utilization of water resources has become one of the most important global issues. Remote sensing data are often used in water body extraction studies and type of remote sensing data used plays an important role in water body extraction. In this study, ability of Landsat satelli...
